Creator terms

1. Joining

Any creator with a channel about chess on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok or Instagram can apply. You sign in with Google, tell us your channel and paste a short code (KTK-XXXX) in your channel description so we know it's yours. We look at every application ourselves and answer within 24 hours. The program is only for chess channels, so we may say no.

Joining is free. There's no exclusivity: keep Chess.com, your sponsors and every partner you have.

2. What you get

• Your own page on KTK (kingtakesking.com/c/yourname) and your own code.
• A free KTK membership while you're a creator, and a gold Creator badge in the KTK Community. The badge doesn't come with any moderator powers.
• A dashboard with your scans, free weeks, paying members, earnings and payouts.

3. What your viewers get

With your code, 50% off the first month of the monthly plan: $4.99, then $9.99 a month. The yearly plan is $59.99, which is already 50% off compared with paying monthly ($119.88); your code doesn't take anything more off it, but a viewer who uses it still counts as yours. Everyone still gets the normal 7-day free week. There are no extra free months.

4. What you earn

You earn 30% of every payment a member you brought makes: monthly or yearly, first payment or fiftieth, for as long as they stay a member. Never more than 30%.

It's 30% of what KTK actually receives: the payment, minus any tax, minus the payment provider's fee. Our provider (Dodo Payments) charges 4% + $0.40 per payment, plus 0.5% on subscriptions, plus 1.5% on cards from outside the US. If the provider reports the exact fee, we use that.

Example: a member pays $9.99 for a month with a US card and no tax. The fee is $0.85, so KTK receives $9.14, and you earn $2.74. A yearly payment of $59.99 earns you about $16.80 to $17.00.

You're paid only from money your own members paid. Nothing is ever paid for views, scans, signups or free weeks.

5. Bonuses

A one-time $50 bonus when you reach 10 paying members, and a one-time $250 bonus at 50. A member counts once they've stayed 60 days after their first payment and are still a member. There are no other bonuses, guarantees or challenges.

6. Who counts as your member

• When someone opens your link, KTK remembers you sent them for 90 days.
• The first creator to bring a viewer keeps them. If another creator's link comes later, it doesn't take them over.
• Your code always wins: if a viewer types your code at checkout, they're yours, even if they first came from another creator's link.
• Once their free week or plan starts, they're yours for good. A member credited to you never moves to anyone else.
• Your own accounts don't count, and neither do people who already had a KTK free week or plan before they came through you.
• KTK's share cards (the ones players share after a scan) stay KTK's and don't credit a creator.

7. Payouts

We pay monthly through our payout partner, Affonso, by PayPal, Wise or bank transfer, anywhere in the world. Each payment is held for 30 days first, in case it's refunded. If a member gets a refund or a chargeback during those 30 days, there's no commission on that payment; if it happens after you were paid, it comes off your next payout.

Payouts start at $50. Anything smaller rolls over to the next month. You give your payout details, and the tax details the law requires, to Affonso at ktkcreators.affonso.io, not to us. Your dashboard links there.

8. Saying it's a paid link

Whenever you share your link or code, tell your audience you get something if they join, for example "I get a share if you join KTK through my link." This is the law in many countries (in the US, the FTC's endorsement rules). Your KTK page says it too.

9. Playing fair

• Talk about KTK in your own words. Don't promise results KTK doesn't claim, like a guaranteed rating gain.
• No spam, no fake accounts, no signing yourself or your friends up to earn, no paid ads on the King Takes King name, and no posting your code on coupon sites.
• We may hold or cancel commissions that come from any of the above, and remove a creator who breaks these terms.

10. No earnings promises

We don't promise you'll earn anything. What you earn depends only on how many of your viewers become paying members and how long they stay. The calculator on the creator page is an estimate from our own videos, and it shows how it's worked out; it isn't a promise.

11. Changes and leaving

If these terms ever change, we'll email you first, and the change only applies to new members, never to the members you've already brought. You can leave any time by writing to us; commission you've already earned is still paid out once it reaches $50.
